SuperModern Dance of Distraction
Learn The Repertoire Workshop
Thursday 29 March 10am Workshop. 12.30pm Matinee performance and post show Q and A
SuperModern delves into the psyche of what it is to be human in our modern world. Fast paced highly skilled dance embodies a collage of characters, caught between themselves and the rapid change of today’s age.
The choreography stems from Anton’s personal ideology of the modern world and the idea of personal space. Anton observes human experience amongst social structure and functioning, and the blurring between physical and conceptual space.
Featuring a new musical score by Nick Wales and Jai Pyne.

FRAMED is part of the “embrace” series. The performers explore different relationships within a contemporary frame – at the intersection of visual arts, theatre, dance, music and installation. The piece will focus on the eight emotional states of the Natyasastra, the conerstone of traditional Indian arts practice, and will explore the relationship between two women of different ages and different cultures. It involves Maori dancer Victoria Hunt working with Tess de Quincey, generating an emphasis on cultural practice in the Asia Pacific area.

The Yard
Learn The Repertoire Workshop
Wednesday 29 August 10am Workshop. 12.30pm Matinee performance and post show Q and A
Inspired by William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, The Yard breathes new life into this universal story set in an Australian school yard. Mixed with the tension and humour of conflicts played out everyday, Parker celebrates the extraordinary in the ordinary, ultimately finding unity in the diversity of culture, gender and ethnicity.
Parker fuses hard hitting contemporary dance with break dance, locking, shuffling, popping, tutting, krumping, and jerking; all new forms of dance found on the streets and school yards of Western Sydney. Composer Nick Wales has created an arresting electro-acoustic score rich with an eclectic mix of strings, break beats and dub step.
