Dance Bites is FORM Dance Projects’ curated signature program of contemporary dance works produced by some of the most innovative and exciting independent choreographers and companies. Learn the Repertoire, See the Show offers dance students a unique opportunity to learn repertoire from each of the Dance Bites works in a workshop led by the artists followed by a matinee performance and a post-show Q&A.


FULL CIRCLE

Sydney-based dancer and choreographer, Lucky Lartey, draws upon his knowledge of traditional rhythms and dance as well as his understanding of contemporary movement practices to explore the longstanding relationship between hip hop culture and West African storytelling traditions. In this new solo work, Lucky will take you and your students on a personal journey revealing how hip hop has travelled full circle to Africa.

A NIGHT’S GAME (Australian Premiere)

Trained in African dance, hip hop, kathak, latin and circus skills, the twin sisters Kristina and Sadé Alleyne, founders of Alleyne Dance (UK), present their internationally acclaimed duet. A night’s game reflects the turmoil and strife of human emotion when faced with the prospect of incarceration. The workshop will enable students to experience the sisters’ fast paced and dynamic movement technique inspired and developed from working with the likes of Akram Khan, Retina Dance Company and Ultima Vez.

MEA CULPA (International Premiere)

Fuelled by a science-fiction trans-human narrative, Fournier develops a movement aesthetic that blends and stretches contemporary and French folk-dance vocabularies to the extreme. The workshop will provide an insight in Fournier’s cross-cultural dance technique.
