Blog Residency 2013 – Vicki Van Hout
FORM is delighted to introduce Vicki Van Hout as our resident blogger. Vicki will be blogging and tweeting for FORM about all things dance. Follow the musings of Vicki through the performance world as she informs you about what’s happening and what not to miss.
Vicki Van Hout is a Wiradjuri descendant. Vicki is a graduate of NAISDA Dance College and the Martha Graham Sc. of Contemporary Dance NYC. After graduating in NYC in 1993 she returned to Australia to perform with Bangarra Dance Theatre. Wirad’journi was Vicki’s first full-length work, inspired by Wiradjuri kinship laws. She has choreographed for ATYP, Pulse8, NAISDA, WAAPA, the Helpmann Awards and Quantum Leap. Recent performances include The Settlement and NOMADS at Carriageworks with Belgian choreographer Hans Van Den Broeck, and actor/performer in The Riot Act for director Karen Therese. Briwyant, a new inter-disciplinary work inspired by the brilliance effect in traditional painting, premiered at Performance Space in 2011 and has since toured nationally. Her most memorable performance was as choreographer/dancer for the historic opening of parliament in the lead up to the Apology in Canberra, 2008.
