DUELS
DUELS is an Australian duet competition as part of FORM Dance Project’s That’s Two, Thank You season. Both emerging and established artists with unique and exciting creative duet ideas are encouraged to apply to have a chance to have their work performed as part of the That’s Two, Thank You season.
The competition is designed to support artists planning to submit their work to the next iteration of the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (https://www.ridcc.com), FORM’s creative partner in the Netherlands.
And the Winner is…
Chosen by our industry panel of local and international choreographers, the winning work will receive $3,500 AUD cash and the audience choice award winner will receive $1,500 AUD cash.
Our pre-panel will select 8 duets from the EOI process to perform in DUELS at Eternity Playhouse, Darlinghurst on Saturday April 11.
If selected, works will have lighting and technical rehearsal time on Friday April 10. There is a non-refundable $50 entrance fee if selected to perform.

1. General
Open to All Dance Styles: Choreographers from any dance discipline are welcome to apply.
Performance: Submissions must feature two live performers on stage. The choreographer may appear in their own duet.
Performance Duration: 7 to 10 minutes.
Availability: All selected participants must be available for lighting plots (30mins each) on Friday April 10 and the dress run and performanceon Saturday April 11 2026 (no exceptions).
2. Application
Deadline for Submissions:Friday March 6 2026, 11pm AEST.
Entrance Fee: If selected to perform, a non-refundable $50 entrance fee must be paid by Friday March 20 2026, 5pm AEST to secure your place.
Selection Process: Admission is subject to a panel approval. The panel will comprise a diverse range of industry experts.
Notification:Friday March 13 2026. Successful applicants must confirm their participation within 5 working days and submit the entrance fee.
Late Confirmation: Failure to confirm and pay within the specified time will result in your duet being removed from the competition.
4. Technical Details
Venue:Eternity Playhouse, Darlington. The stage features a black tarkett floor. There will be no wings available during this performance season.
Stage Dimensions: 12m (width) x 9m (depth).
Props and Set Pieces: Participants are responsible for their own props and set pieces. We recommend minimizing the use of props and set.
Music Licensing: Participants are responsible for organising music licensing for their performance.
Music Submission: Music must be provided to FORM (.wav preferred) by Monday April 6.
Lighting Plan: A lighting plan must be submitted to FORM Dance Projects before Monday April 6. A template will be provided for your convenience.
5. Awards and Recognition
Winner: One winner will receive $3500 AUD in cash.
Audience Choice Award: One winner of the Audience Choice Award will receive $1,500 AUD cash and will be selected by audience members on the evening of the show.
6. Additional Information
Promotional Use: By submitting your materials, you grant FORM Dance Projects the right to use any photos and videos for promotional purposes.
Video Documentation: All performances will be video documented, and participating choreographers will receive a copy of the final documentation of their work.
