Join this contemporary dance masterclass with extraordinary dancer & choreographer, AAKASH ODEDRA. One of the new stars of contemporary dance who was mentored by Akram Khan. Masterclass participants are also invited to see his recent work, Rising which premières at Parramatta Riverside, as part of Parramasala Festival.
Trained in the classical Indian dance styles of Kathak and Bharatanatyam in India and the UK, Aakash Odedra is a rising star of British dance. In 2011, Odedra worked with renowned choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan, to create three sensational dance solos. Rising is the culmination of this, an evening of dance performed by Odedra, which also includes a piece of Odedra’s own creation.
The Masterclass is for professional dancers. Aakash engages in choreographic style workshops introducing dancers to his unique movement vocabulary. His work calls on his background in the classical Indian dance disciplines while remaining intrinsically contemporary in style.
