Audition Call: Garden of Sound

We are seeking an actor (male-presenting, aged 30 – 50) for a new performance for young people.

About the Work
Garden of Sound follows the story of two loyal gardeners, Dag and Dug, who are trying to bring their garden of sound back to its lush and symphonic potential. Dag loves chaos. Dug loves control. They’re at a standoff and need the help of Young People to rediscover the sounds of the garden before they’re lost forever. The show is an innovative performance for kids and families. Using motion capture and a game engine (software used for video games), the show creates an interactive and open world sound environment of a garden. Following the performance, performers become facilitators, and all audiences are welcome to play in the garden.

The Role: Dag
Dag is a proud yet mischievous caretaker of the garden. He loves his job but is worried the garden no longer sounds as vibrant as it once did. To liven things up, Dag has smuggled in noises from the outside world. We are looking for an actor with a strong sense of play and curiosity, able to hold the attention of young audiences, and comfortable working in a two-hander ensemble.

Key Dates

Rehearsals: December 1–18, 2025 in Parramatta (Schedule subject to change).
Tech & Performances: January 2–17, 2026 in Parramatta and Sutherland.
Auditions: Saturday 18 October, 9am–2pm, Parramatta.

Engagement

Paid above PCA Performer Category 2 (pro-rata).
Contract through Voxstep and FORM Dance Projects.

Who We’re Looking For

Experienced with new work and cross-art form collaboration.
Comfortable performing for young audiences.
Interest in working with new technologies is a bonus.
