Tegan Jeffrey-Rushton is a dance artist and emerging choreographer based in Sydney, Australia. Tegan’s creative practice is a melting-pot of her diverse dance background into a style defined by athleticism, intricacy, and storytelling. With a passion for immersive theatre and site-specific modalities, she is drawn to blending contemporary dance and theatre, with a strong desire to bring more of this genre to Australian audiences. Her recent work, OVERTURE, is an immersive contemporary dance- theatre piece that premiered at The Queens Theatre – with a sold-out season at Adelaide Fringe 2025 – winning the overall “Best in Dance” award.
As a performer, Tegan has appeared in productions such as: Opera Australia’s Carmen, Stephanie Lake Company’s COLOSSUS, XYZ by Holly Finch in Auckland NZ and worked with artists and brands such as The Veronicas, Guy Sebastian, Pepsi, Drew Barrymore x Wanderlust, Reebok and many more. Her choreographic credits include L-Flora, Zela Margossian Quintet x Nowness Asia and Nick Broadhurst. She has also worked as a dance assistant on a variety of high-profile projects, including Dancing With The Stars under Sarah Boulter, ORLANDO for Belvoir St Theatre under Shannon Burns, and Q&A in Tokyo with renowned LA-based choreographer Jillian Meyers.
Tegan is committed to creating work that is both engaging and accessible, aiming to connect with a wide audience without compromising artistic integrity. She is drawn to work that feels immediate and cinematic, often exploring the relationship between performer, space, and audience, merging raw physicality with theatricality to create performances that invite and challenge in equal measure.
